1. Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self interest into the fairest and most productive economic system there is, and are the key to national prosperity.

They were totally against a monarchy and they did not want all the power being in the hands of one individual. They divided power by diffusing it into three branches of government the executive, legislative and judicial branch. They further divided power by providing checks and balances among the three branches. One more way of dividing power was through federalism, in which powers were given to state and local governments as well as the federal government.
