14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

Our Founding Fathers understood that the fundamental nature of government is to control the citizenry. They knew that our only chance to protect against this would be to enshrine the means to limit and control government within the Constitution.

15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

1.) Lack of fiscal responsibility – The huge and ever-increasing national debt caused by profligate spending by the federal government weakens our economy as well as the political and security of our citizens and our nation. 2.) Reining in runaway executive power – A president who believes he can ignore laws and change them unilaterally to suit his needs, as President Obama has done, throws our system of checks and balance off balance. It is a dangerous state of affairs. 3.) Government spying on citizens – This must be reined in because when the government invades citizens’ privacy without good reason and in violation of the Fourth Amendment, as Ayn Rand said eight decades ago, it leads to the government gaining absolute control over the people.

16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

I oppose abortion. Period.

17. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

God, Constitution, Voters

18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God as our creator and in Jesus Christ his son. Man is created in God’s image but possessed of a free will with which to choose to do good or bad. Government is ordained among men to create an earthly environment in which rights are protected so men can prosper and grow.
