15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

The Founders understood that it is in the nature of man to attempt to control his environment and circumstances, including his fellow citizens. Therefore, in establishing the government of the United States, it was critical to disperse power among competing branches of the government which would work to keep one another in check. This precaution was further built into the system by dividing power between a limited federal government and the states.

16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

1) Cutting federal spending. Our nation cannot long endure a national debt in excess of $17 trillion and unfunded liabilities of $100 trillion. We must restore fiscal sanity to Washington. 2) Repealing Obamacare. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is in the process of destroying the American health insurance market and must be repealed before it causes further harm to our economy. 3) Immigration. I will not support amnesty for those who entered this country illegally. I will also not support any thousand-page, “comprehensive” immigration reform package because bills that large are incomprehensible and always grow the federal government. I propose that we nationally implement and enforce the eVerify system for foreign workers, which will deter employers from using illegal labor and thereby largely dry-up the job pool which draws illegal immigrants to our country.

17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

I believe that life begins at conception and that it is a miraculous and precious gift from God. I therefore believe that abortion is wrong. But, when the life of the mother is at stake, medical intervention that may kill the baby should be allowed.

18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

God, Constitution, Voters, Congress, Supreme Court

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I believe in Jesus Christ; that He is the only-begotten Son of God, He died on the cross for our sins, and He rose from the dead on the third day, defeating sin and death. I trust in Him as the Savior of my soul and the Lord of my life. I believe the Bible is God's word instructing us in His will for our lives.
