15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
The Constitution belongs to the people and the people shall impose their will upon the government. But our Founders believed and understood the imperfections of "the people". And therefore insured a system of checks and balances within our government to prevent one branch from becoming to powerful and to prevent the majority from ruling with an iron fist.
16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
1. Fiscal Responsibility: Our Federal government has allowed our nation to reach a crisis point. We do not balance our budget; we have over $17 Trillion in debt; we deficit spend annually and we have over $122 Trillion in unfunded liabilities. This kind of debt is crippling to our nation and to our future. We are on the point of national bankruptcy. 2. Defending the right to Life: What kind of nation and a people do not defend the most vulnerable and innocent among us? I think this issue goes to the very moral and christian foundation our country was built on. 3. Taxes and excessive regulation: We are taxed on income, business, investments, property and even when we die- all of which stifle prosperity. Excessive regulations costs us billions of dollars and are harmful to economic growth.
17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
No. Standing up for the unborn means more than just making speeches. As a County Commissioner, I voted to ban the Plan B abortion bill, and have been a proud and consistent supporter of the Personhood movement, unambiguously defending life from conception.
18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God; Voters- the people; Constitution; Congress; Supreme Court
19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God and that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us. I have turned my life over to God and trust he will protect me; guide me and love me. I was raised in a Catholic family and hold firm to Christian values.
