16. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

Some historians attribute the separation of power to the Roman Republic, starting in the 5th century BC. Also, Montesquieu wrote of the separation of powers, including "checks and balances", and is attributed in part for inspiring the US Constitution. The first known writer to discuss a mixed government was Aristotle. I personally believe the tyranny of England was the main element that caused our Founders to separate the powers of government since they witnessed it first hand.

17. The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

Strongly Agree

18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

God, Constitution, Supreme Court, Voters, Congress. I put God first since I believe that we should seek his guidance for everything. I did not include Academia, Industry, Media, or Professional Sports (influence but not authority).

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Baptist. I accepted Christ at the age of 9. Whereas that may be considered by some to be a young age, I KNEW my decision would impact me for the rest of my life. I have accomplished a lot in my life, but my proudest accomplishment was when I led my daughter and son to Christ. My family and I keep God first in our lives. I do not get "hung up" on any specific religion. I am Baptist because I share their beliefs. I believe that all religions that are faith based will be represented in heaven, as long as the individual accepted Christ.
